School Garden Program Training by Slow Food



9:00    Welcome and Introduction to Slow Food

9:30    Slow Food USA’s School Garden Guide- Best practices on how to develop and maintain a school garden program. Includes volunteers, fundraisers, marketing, school garden committees. Some discussion on Long Term sustainability of school gardens.

11:00  Slow Food USA’s Good School Garden Curriculum- Introduction to Sensory Education and hands-on cooking activity

12:30  Lunch prepared by participants

1:00    Garden to Cafeteria toolkit and training

2:30    Slow Food USA’s Youth Farmers’ Market manual and training

3:00    Ark of Taste programs

3:30    Wrap-up and general questions

4:00    Departure and distribution of classroom materials

If you would like to tour some of our gardens, please join us for the 10th Annual Tour de Farms the next day on Saturday, August 20th! (Register for the Short tour if you want to see the in-town gardens).

Coming from out of town? Camping recommended at Junction Creek Campground, 5 miles up a dirt road outside of town, 15 minutes from the Fairgrounds.  Basic sites are $20/night and reservations are available online.
