Ohana Kuleana Community Garden 2016 Season Highlights

In 2016 our 35 groups of garden 'ohana harvested over 2,600 lbs. of produce! Yum!

Here are some of the highlights from the season...

  • Worked on creating paradise with a Permaculture Consultant, Grant Curry from the Permaculture Provision Project, to plant and care for our Food Forest. We planted 4 more guilds! Including:

  • Started having potlucks after each workday, so we could gather together over food starting with an inspiration moment!

  • Enjoyed the gifts each of our garden ‘ohana has to offer the garden and community; including ‘Ohana Yoga, taught by our garden ‘ohana Joy.

  • Marye_Jackson_-_OKCG_2016.jpgGathered for Monday Nights with Marye, a group of ‘ohana self-organizing evening workdays to care for the herb garden and food forest.

  • Garden Manager Mia attended a Leadership Training to better grow a healthier community by empowering and engaging people to use their experience, passion, skills, and knowledge to shape our community.

  • Started a mentorship program which paired experienced gardeners with beginner gardeners!

  • Attended the Four Corners Annual Permaculture Convergence, thanks to 2 scholarship from by Growing Spaces Growing Domes, to further integrate this philosophy of Permaculture into our garden and garden culture.
