With a menu of almost 100% locally donate produce made into an extravagant feast by Eolus Chef, Chris Crowl, we were all in for a treat!

Thanks Chef Chris Crowl!

We celebrated another wonderful season of gardening and education with many of the volunteers, sponsors, and partners who made it all possible. We talked about where The Garden Project started and where we are going.

Here’s what we believe:

  • We believe in teaching kids what real food looks likes.

  • We believe that healthy nutrition starts with a personal connection to our food.

  • We believe that gardening connects people to a sense of place within the natural environment and within the human community.

  • Since everyone needs to eat, we believe that everyone can garden as well. No green thumbs necessary.

  • We seek to make our programs accessible to people of all ages, experience levels, incomes, and abilities. Our programs span the generations from preschoolers to grandparents.

Up on the Eolus rooftop patio under shimmering lights and beautiful flowers we were surrounded by good company - people who care deeply about what The Garden Project stands for. People who care about the health and well being of our kids, of our environment, and of our community.

People who care so much we were able to raise $15,500!

It is because of YOU, our generous, caring community that we are able to grow a healthier community through our programs.

Programs such as:

  • The Jr. Gardeners Summer Camp, which we launched this year, for elementary school kids to participate in gardening over the summer months.

  • The Gardening Workshop Series at the Ohana Kuleana Community Garden, covering topics from Growing Tomatoes in SW Colorado to Mushroom Cultivation to The Science of Cooking

  • Manna Soup Kitchen's Garden Shares which gave 12 families a weekly share of fresh produce all summer long with cooking classes provided by Cooking Matters

  • A gardening apprenticeship program for at-risk teens at the Manna Garden

  • The AmeriCorp Program awarding us with a 3-year grant to host an AmeriCorps member to serve as a school garden coordinator

  • Our school garden education programs for which The Payroll Department awarded us with a $10,000 grant through the Community Foundation to further develop, and which you, our community matched.

All in all, 2016 was a wonderful year, culminating in this wonderful event!

If you are interested in helping us grow a healthier community you can make a donation and/or sign up to volunteer. We couldn't do it with out you! Thank you.

Thanks so much to our sponsors!
