Junior Master Gardener Program:

Purpose

New in the 2017 - 2018 school year, The Garden Project is collaborating with CSU Extension's 4-H program to bring seven garden lessons tied to science, comprehensive health, math, and social studies to second graders. Each interactive lesson is matched to age appropriate Performance Indicators and Colorado State Standards. AmeriCorps School Garden Educators and Colorado Master Gardeners are trained to lead garden lessons in school gardens throughout the school year with second grade classes who attend schools with large school garden infrastructure.

The Junior Master Gardener program is an international youth gardening program of the university cooperative Extension network. JMG engages children in novel, “hands-on” group and individual learning experiences that provide a love of gardening, develop an appreciation for the environment, and cultivate the mind. - Junior Master Gardener website
